New Dragon book
According to Ullman site and Amazon there will be a new edition of the Dragon book shortly. Ullman just states that it will appear sometime in 2005 and Amazon is pointing to November, 15th as the shipment day.
Monica Lam, a very distinguished researcher in the area joins the author team for this edition.
The name of the book is 21st Century Compilers, and will become the third one in the Dragon saga books on compiler theory and techniques. The first dragon was green; the second one, red. Every geek in this world wants to know what color the dragon is for the next edition.
Buena noticia. Yo tengo el Dragón Rojo (lamentablemente en español; pero espero remediar eso pronto), y cuando estudié en la Fac aprendí compiladores en el Dragón Verde (el cual debo de adquirir pronto). Ambos son libros memorables. La claridad con la que Aho y Ullman exponen los conceptos básicos de Compiladores causó que este tema se volviera mi pasión “secreta”. Tiempo después mi tesis fué precisamente el diseño y desarrollo de uun lenguaje simbólico asi como su compilador. No me quedé en la fase teórica meramente, sino que el lenguaje fué diseñado, implementado y usado; y el compilador generaba un precioso código-K con el que derramé varias lagrimitas por ahi. Estaré atento a la salida del nuevo libro (lo escribirá junto con Aho?). Ah, por ultimo. El color del dragón; indudablemente será azul. Quieres saber porqué? Je, je, je… Ya lo veremos.
