Why I used to love Kathleen Battle

A single taste of her charm, I think, is enough.
Here it is the same vals but with Zubin Mehta. Here we can see a younger Battle. The conducting is poorer compared with that of Karajan. For those who think that a conductor doesn’t do nothing, just hear the difference in a simple vals.
And of course you need to hear her in a rehearsal of the Zerbinetta from Ariadne auf Naxos. You also can enjoy in that rehearsal of Miss Norman, another giant of singing… but she is another history.
Then you can see the real thing Part 1 and Part 2.
In terms of choral music her Agnus Dei interpretation from Mozart’s Coronation Mass is superb. The scenario could not be better, the St. Peter Basilic when John Paul II allowed again Mozart Music in Catholic rites.
Last but not least, please hear her Prendi, per me sei libero interpretation.
Enjoy!
